About Flower & Green Floral Design In Old Welwyn 

I first developed a curiosity and passion for flowers and plants watching my Father designing, growing and changing our garden at home over the years. His ability to grow and nurture plants fascinates me and he has handed down invaluable knowledge over the years to anyone who asks for his advice. 
 
Flower combinations in particular fascinated me and having taken a few flower arranging classes over the years I decided to leave my job 5 years ago and study floristry in earnest. I spent 3 years at Shuttleworth college studying colour harmonies, elements and principles of design, learning the Latin names of all the flowers and plants we used, how to care for and condition cut flowers, practicing wedding and funeral flower design as well as hand-tied bouquets and flower arrangements. I also worked at a lovely village florist for 4 years growing my skill-set and knowledge.

After being furloughed for a few months during the lock down I knew it was time to spread my wings and pursue my own dreams of running a floristry business and in October 2020 Flower and Green was born. 
 
The 'Green' part of the name comes from my love of foliage in designs. I have some well-established foliage in my own garden too which I use in my designs including 7 (to date) eucalyptus trees which I coppice each spring ready to use again in the autumn. 
 
I have a burgeoning interest in sustainable floristry and have designed biodegradable funeral tributes for eco-friendly burials.  
 
Last summer, whilst buying flower from local wholesalers, I sourced local growers and use beautiful British blooms in my work in an effort to reduce my carbon footprint.
